Course Description: Five-Week Course, 2 ½ hour lecture and 2 hour laboratory per week (lab is optional). This extremely intense course introduces students to design, create and debug Java programs. Students will learn the syntax of the Java programming language, how to design programs using Object Oriented Analysis and Design, and how to create programs that run over the Internet as well as stand alone applications. Emphasis is placed on program design, using Java programs with HTML pages (Applets) and software re-use.

Prerequisites: Grade C or better in Basic 211 or Visual Basic 217 or C++ 223. An email account and Internet skills are required to succeed.

Exams: All tests will be of one of two forms:
The first exam will be a written test (closed book and closed notes). The second exam will be a performance tests (hands-on programming in the computer lab) with open books, open notes and open computers. All quizzes are closed book and closed notes.

Late & Makeup Policy: Make up examinations will not be given, nor will late assignments be accepted without the prior approval of the instructor. Calls to the Instructor on the day of an exam do not constitute prior notification or approval. Deduction penalties for late work may applied.

Lab Policy: The first time you use the lab, please show your student ID card to the lab aide so he/she can create a network account for you. Lab aides are not instructed to assist you with your class works, therefore, make the most of the lab time with your instructor.

Academic Integrity: Individual assignments must be completed by your own work as described by the "Academic Honesty" article in the Catalog.

Instructor Tardiness: You are required to report instructor's tardiness of 15 minutes or more to the division office before leaving.
